DIGITAL DOWNLOAD: Fluid Fabric Dynamics
MSC: Fluid Fabric Dynamics
Where dynamic movement can blend with fluidity and gentle
spin – continuing the flow rather than breaking its
momentum.
A digital tutorial guide and accumulation of dynamic pathways that lend themselves to fluid movements and skill connections on vertical apparatuses!
This manual collects demonstrations and skill lists of fluid dynamic technique and motions like switch, scissor and pop beats on aerial silks through 20 voice-over video clips. All skills in this guide can also be executed on aerial rope.
—
This dynamic movement based manual is best for aerialists who are already able to safely invert to straddle and hipkey with straight legs from bent arm hold, and are comfortable engaging to hang in a long arm hang.
Check out my inversion conditioning video!

While many of these skills and drills in the guide lead to an inversion in the demo videos, being able to invert from the dynamic movement is not necessary to an aerialist benefiting from the practices shared in this manual. You can practice slicing through the air, and begin to understand more dynamic pathways without following through to a full straddle invert.
There are so many factors that play a role in smooth dynamic
motion: strength, understanding of the movement and where
energy both starts from and flows through during the beat,
spin, directionality, flare pathway, etc.
This manual is simply a collection of my favorite fluid
dynamics that lend themselves to linking well with flow on
silks. Some simple, some more intricate. There are of course
so many skills, so this is not an exhaustive list. Instead think
of it as a jumping off point for your own brainstorming to
create flow using momentum and dynamic motion!
I hope his list helps you work more flow and continuity into
your dynamic practice, linking of beats, connections to
different pathways – and see what relationships you can find
when flowing dynamics fluidly.

DISCLAIMER: Aerial arts are a VERY dangerous practice. They require body awareness, control (ability to hold positions and move through pathways with respect for transitions), and strength built through good form habits learned in classes and lessons with a qualified coach. Learning from online resources can be a great avenue when also accompanied by hands-on coaching - there are many nuances to aerial wraps and positioning, engagement or control of the body that are difficult to understand the reasoning or importance behind. Always work safely over a mat and always try new things from the ground first! All exercises in this manual are executed at your own risk. Moody Street Circus LLC and all persons involved in the creation of this guide will not accept responsibility for injury to any degree as a result of practicing the drills in this manual. Always consult a professional rigger to make sure your apparatus is safe.
Skills are best ”unwrapped” with a coach at your side!
