Rhea’s Story. Part 26.

In a quest to scan cool old photos that need freeing from basement boxes, I found a letter Mom wrote to Zoë from when she was 5 or 6. This is part 1 of it.

Backstory- I made sure to take Zoë to where I grew up in Plaka every year, (twice a year before she was two and cost more to fly). I wanted her to know the loving vibes of the ancient city, to feel the stones of the Parthenon sizzling in the Greek heat, to dance freely to tsifteteki bouzouki music in its original context & to generally soak up the energy of where and how I grew up - and of course to know her unusual “Dancing Ami” through direct experience. They are two fire signs who share daring, independent spirits & are both great at art projects. Sometimes their strong wills clashed, but always with admiration for each other.

“Dear Zoë,

Please take this money for your birthday and do something you like with it.
We still have two giant turtles and a big black & white cat who seems like a boy but is too scared for me to get close to him to check for sure. Maybe if he meets you he won’t be so scared. But you can still get a baby cat from a pet shop if you want, but it has to be a girl kitty because the wild men cats sometimes kill the young male cats that live outside.

Everyone is looking forward to seeing you again, also - I hope you can help me with certain design ideas for the house. I know that you are older now and can do a lot more things than you used to. I am looking forward to getting the best out of you.”

Part 2 to follow

I took the photo back when Z was around 2 and mom and I would walk the city looking for adventures for her. Feeding the pigeons by the President’s Palace is always fun.
