Belly Dance On-Demand: Bloodstone March 2021 - 5 Class Pack
Melina’s Belly Dance On-Demand:
This Archive Class Package includes 5 Recorded Classes.
A monthlong dance journey inspired by the properties of March’s ‘2nd’ birthstone, the Bloodstone.
Each class Infused with bloodstone energies, shimmies, belly dance combinations & numerology to enrich our remote community gathering in dance.
Class 1. Footfalls on the Earth. Invigorate your creative energy with the power of 3 and the enlivening properties of the bloodstone. Class will feature sole-inspired dance combinations featuring different podiatric energies (sorry for the fancy word - I love etymology. Podiatry is from the Greek word for feet, podia) designed to tap into Earth’s energies and invigorate the physical body. This Bloodstone Belly dance class also explores the power of 3, including the triplet step and the magic of 3 within a 4/4 rhythm. For those with finger cymbals, you will be guided on triplet patterns to use throughout class, but they are not required!
Class 2. Dance breedsdeep awareness and a sense of when it is right to begin, pause, and start over. (1+0 = 1, a number of beginnings & awareness). The courage to be free & spontaneous in dance comes from an inner trust in timing - when to end, when to begin again. Bloodstone belly dance nourishes feelings of self-confidence. It bestows courage & wisdom. In this class we will explore timing in dance, varying our response to musical time signatures - fast, slow, shifting dynamics or emphasis. Melina will share her daily ritual around the number 10.
Class 3. A perfect day to explore the infinity currents of belly dance movements as numerologically 1+7 = 8. Eight inspires me to go with the flow. Figure 8 movements & the energy of infinity (8 on its side) help bolster the bloodstone property of clearing space of negativity and calming the emotional body. We will work on a slow & fluid snakey choreography.
Class 4: We met on the full moon of March to explore the circular fullness of our own energy bodies in belly dance.
Class 5. Movementreflection ona year of imaginative zoom belly dance featuring a medley of my favorite combinations and choreographies including a drum solo and Aziza from Choreoctober 2020. (links to instructional videos with additional choreographic content will be provided to monthlong insiders). What insights have we gained about the power of dance in quarantine times and its ability to bring us back into a sense of grounding and stability? (3+1 = 4, which in numerology is wholeness, stability, insight). Bloodstone inspires determination and integrity as we dance on the brink of April.
