Rhea’s Memoir: Part 2

Rhea’s memoir: 2024 handwritten letter, part 2.

Photoshoot circa early 1990s of Mom with feather boa, as one must.

« I arrived in Greece 14 December, 1976, 4 days after my 35th birthday, following the dissolution of a 5 year co-habiting relationship with my first (but not last) Greek man, gone disastrously wrong.

Combine that with a hysterectomy and a slow dwindling of well-paying teaching and dancing jobs (back in the states), and you have the makings of a deflated would-be heroine desperate to remain, along with my two children, Piper and Melina nee Melinda, in Greece, specifically Athens, long revered as the birthplace of modern democracy. »

Letter transcribed by me - Mom wrote it freehand / no cross outs! with blue bic pen (her fave) on loose leaf paper at a Yeros tou Moria taverna table in Plaka, where she challenges herself to walk up and down the stairs around Mnisikleos street everyday.
